The Grand Jury Prize and Audience Award at the 46th edition of the prestigious International Besançon Competition for Young Conductors in 1999 marked the starting point in the career of Alvaro Albiach (Llíria - Valencia, 1968), and right after came his debut in front of the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse at the Halle aux Grains. Since then he has developed an intense career with invitations in major orchestras including the Wiener Kammerorchester, NDR Radio Philharmonie Hannover, Würtembergische Philharmonie, Staatskapelle Halle, Trondheim Symphony, Orchestre d'Auvergne, Orchestre National de Lyon, Flemish Radio Orchestra, Filarmónica de Bogotá o Sinfónica Nacional de Chile, and Spanish major orchestras (Orquesta Nacional de España, ORTVE, Sinfónicas de Tenerife, Galicia and Barcelona, Filarmónica de Las Palmas, Ciudad de Granada, Comunidad Valenciana, Orquesta de Valencia, Filarmónica de Málaga, etc.).

From 2012 to 2021 he was Artistic Director and Chief Conductor of the Orquesta de Extremadura. With them he developed an extensive concert activity and projection of the group, culminating so far with the performances of Salome and Samson et Dalila at the Festival of Classical Theatre in Mérida, and to which the press reviews have highlighted the work of the orchestra and the "vibrant and precise conduction of Álvaro Albiach" and their approach to the work "with seriousness and rigor" (Juan Angel Vela del Campo, El País, July 9, 2014). It is also worth mentioning the orchestra's concerts at the Auditorio Nacional de Música in Madrid, as well as the first recording of the orchestra for SONY Classical dedicated to the work of José Zárate.

Alvaro Albiach combines his concert activity with a significant presence in opera, having worked in theaters and festivals such important as Teatro Real in Madrid, Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, Rossini Festival in Pesaro, Teatro Comunale in Bologna, Teatro Comunale in Treviso, Schleswig Holstein Festival, Festival de Granada, Peralada Festival, Summer Festival of El Escorial, Teatro Campoamor in Oviedo, Villamarta Theatre in Jerez or at the Teatro de la Zarzuela in Madrid among others. It is also worth mentioning his collaborations with the Ballet Nacional de España in Madrid and Valencia.

In addition, Alvaro Albiach is claimed as a jury for various competitions and contests, such as the Composition Awards of the Asociación Española de Orquestas-Fundación BBVA, in which he has already participated in two editions, or the "Antal Dorati International Conducting Competition" in Budapest, of which he formed part in the jury in 2018.
